I’m a writer, editor and podcaster living in Amsterdam and originally from the South West of England. I work as an editor at Failed Architecture, and host the Failed Architecture podcast and Failed Architecture Breezeblocks. I’ve also been intermittently associated with the Amsterdam-based design platform fanfare, principally as co-host of fanfare tetatet. Aside from that, I teach architectural theory, most recently at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, the Academie van Bouwkunst in Amsterdam, Fontys Tilburg, and the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.

My background is in history and critical urbanism, and my work generally tends to focus on the role of culture and technology in urban development. In particular, I’m interested in how music, art, film, TV and video games help to reproduce the power dynamics that prevail in cities, but also provide opportunities for marginalised groups to challenge these power dynamics.
